Oso Lodge in Cerocahui
One of the great lodges we use in Copper Canyon is Oso Lodge near Cerocahui. This place is quiet, not far from the Copper Canyon train, and operated by a family that get the hospitality thing. Our guests always seem to like this place for a variety of reasons:

Our team in Mexico’s Copper Canyon: What I look for.
Some really skilled leader (I think it was Bill Hybels at Willow Creek) told me that when you hire someone you look for three qualities and they all start with C. I look for these “3 Cs” when I consider people to be a part of my team in Copper Canyon. 1. First is character. […]

Four Distinctives of our Copper Canyon Trips
There are some distinctives with Authentic Copper Canyon trips that make what we do not only special, memorable, and fun, but also a deep immersion into the culture of Copper Canyon. We live these distinctives and it is why we lead the pack in providers to Copper Canyon: 1. Our Values. All we do will […]

The three best hotels in Copper Canyon
Copper Canyon Hotels There are many fine places to stay along the Copper Canyon train. Since CHEPE has no sleeping cars and does not travel over night, people are curious about the hotels and ask me which are the best. Tough question. I have experienced many and they vary in style and quality. There are […]

Copper Canyon trips that unforgettable We have a set of values that drive all that we do. They are not just statements on a wall or points in a brochure. Rather they are the commitments we have that guide us in the planning and deciding and envisioning that goes into every journey we take to […]

THE trip for street foodies
There are so many ultimately redeeming qualities of the Copper Canyon travel experience for those who truly love to experience other cultures. The Copper Canyon train is in the top seven in the world- everyday it passes through incredible country and has 37 bridges and 86 tunnels. The indiginous people (the Raramuri of “Born to […]

Walk Across Juarez #7
I am smiling chuckling- we had so much fun there in Juarez. I am high in Copper Canyon along the train line in the little town of Areponapuchi. My room at Mansion Tarahumara is littered with scrawled papers, open books, dirty socks, half empty and stale tequila glasses…and I am deeply happy as I think […]

Jilo and 500 Pesos
I drop by Jilo Mancinas’ little hovel of a house in Areponapuchi. The front area serves as a garden, grazing area for Jilos ponies and parking for his beat up little pickup. Jesinia comes to the door. The pure beauty of this little girl flows. She and her sister Daniela live here with there parents. […]
