We do all kinds of trips to Copper Canyon. Our bread and butter is the classic train trip. We keep the groups small and flex the itineraries. People love it.
Our new trip there is one I really love. It is a part of our work with the barefoot runners in Copper Canyon. It is a running trip where American runners can run with these amazing athletes–runners of any level will enjoy it
I love this new initiative with the barefoot runners. We take gringo runner of all levels there to Copper Canyon to run with the Tarhumaras. We also bring the runners from the Sierras up to ultra-marathons and running camps and events in the U.S.
This is my passion for several reasons. First, I like the core idea of track and field: run your personal best. The Raramuri runners go all out…they are warrior runners. This was a comment I got from Dave James when we were at “Run Rabbit Run.” So when these guys go for it on a tough course, I love it. Reminds me of the old saying for Irenaeus, “The glory of God is a human being fully alive.”
Another factor is that it is a thing of beauty when they run. There is a reason they are truly “running people.” Their motion is fluid. Their direction is fully forward. The pace is consistent and challenging. it is an honor for me and my wife to be involved in this project.
Run, run, run. That’s our vision statement of the Copper Canyon Running Tour.
