Several years ago I met a young man at the El Fuerte train station (on the CHEPE line that runs through Copper Canyon– the station is 3 miles east of town). His name was Sergio and he went on and on about his dad, who he described as an experienced fishing guide. A few weeks later I met Chico and we have worked together ever since.
Chico has two nice Suburban vehicles and uses these to get us around the El Fuerte area.
One of the really cool experiences we have with Chico there with most groups is to float the El Fuerte river and watch birds. It is amazing…we usually see a wide variety of avian delights and it changes every season….from vermilion flycatchers to roseate spoonbills. He and his Ocolome buddy Rafael seem to know everything that flies.
These river trips also include a stop to walk through the petro glyphs near El Fuerte…an amazing historical site.
Chico is funny (like he knows jokes in english), very knowledgable, and trustworthy- a real part of the El Fuerte community.
