He is quiet…he is unassuming …and he is our mainstay in the heart of Copper Canyon.
I met this skilled guide on the train one day as it rolled up through Copper Canyon. I saw him at a distance talking with some guests. Perhaps I have an aversion to guides who talk all the time and try to tell people all they know about everything in the Sierra Madres. I liked the way this guy dealt with people and that day I introduced myself. Today we are good friends and Gustavo is an essential part of our team.
Years ago I heard Bill Hybels at Willow Creek in Chicago say that he looked for three qualities in a potential hire: Character, Competency, and Chemistry.
I use this approach to adding to my team…and Gustavo has these qualities in spades.

Got Questions?
One common question people have is if this is a hiking/sleep on the ground trip. Answer: No. We stay each night in small cabanas or hotels, all of which are very clean and include hot water and linens. There is always the opportunity for a good walk, but ground transport is always available.
Chihuahua City Option
Most of our trips originate in Chihuahua and sometimes end in Baja. You can also start your trip flying to Los Mochis (LMM)
You can fly directly to Chihuahua City (CUU) to begin our trips. Direct flights from Dallas (American Airlines) and Houston (United Airlines) go daily to CUU.
Guests can return home from Cabo (SJD).
This gives us an extra day in Copper Canyon and smooths the trip as it eliminates the long drive in from El Paso. Call Dave today at 217.369.9897 for details.

Answer to the question everyone asks…
Yes the Mexico is safe. There have been zero incidents with tourists in the Copper Canyon area, Merida, Oaxaca or the other areas where we travel.
We stay far away from effected areas and have every confidence that your trip will be safe...and very enjoyable!
