Copper Canyon Train Maps
Here is a general map of the area showing the start and stop points for the Copper Canyon railway or CHEPE. (These top two maps are fromMexBound.com, a great source for Mexican car insurance and other Mexico information.)

NOTE: This map above shows El Paso and route 45. This is the way we usually enter the area by van- a very pleasant introduction to the Sierra Madres. Then we leave the country by way of Casas Grandes. We make both border crossings at St Teresa , New Mexico- a very quiet and easy little crossing.
Note that the red star is Chihuahua City- the starting point for the Copper Canyon train. The passenger train does NOT originate in Ojinaga as shown on this map. Also Urique is not a rail stop. This little town is at the bottom of the canyon, 2 hours by road from the Bahuichivo station. The town of Cerocahui is between Bahuichivo and Urique- a great place to stay. Urique is home to the Copper Canyon Ultramarathon promoted by the infamousCaballo Blanco and usually won byTarahumara Indians of “Born to Run” fame.
The chart below gives elevations of the railway as it goes from Ojinaga to Topolobampo.

This one is of a billboard at the CHEPE staion in El Fuerte. It gives an idea of how the towns fit on the rail line, etc

The CHEPE route.
