First of all, we really don’t do tours.
We do many Copper Canyon tours for people annually—but we don’t really think of them as tours.
What I mean is that a “tour” is more of a canned deal –more like a commodity. What we do is more of a personal experience for you that gets you connected with the place. Whether it is the enchantment of Oaxaca (think Day of the Dead in Oaxaca )or the European/Caribbean flavor of Puebla or wherever in Mexico–you get immersed in the local food, people, sites, etc.
Most of our trips are unique. I listen to people, and since I know each location well, I can offer options that fit with the logistical realities of the place.
It all starts with your guide.
A big part of how this works is who I have selected as guides in our various Mexico destinations. It is easy for local guides to get disqualified as one of our Authentic Mexico guide team–it’s the old hire slow, fire fast deal. A local Mexican guide will not work as your AMT guide if:
- they have shown any character flaws
- they are unwilling to work with flex itineraries
- they are more set on getting a mic and talking than on relaxing and listening to your questions
I insist that guides are fun, relaxed, smart and knowledgeable of the area, honest and always available.
So it’s not just a tour—but a deep meaningful experience in the real Mexico.
